I’ve always wanted a circular staircase in my
house. Why? I think their cool, not very practical but
never-the-less good looking!
Have you ever felt like you were climbing a
circular staircase in your prayer life?
I have and it’s not fun or fulfilling to the spirit.
When Honi drew his circle for prayer he never
intended it to a spiritual merry-go-round.
The circle was a statement! A
cylinder of confidence!
As the author of The Circle Maker puts it; “drawing prayer circles is a metaphor
that simple means ‘praying until God answers.’
It’s a determination to pray as long as it takes, even if it takes
longer than you ever imagined.”
Many have found themselves praying in circles
because they were unable to discern God’s will for a situation and praying in
earnest for it. Honi knew the will of
God wasn’t disaster and devastation for the nation of Israel and her
crops. God created seasons and provided
the rain so the land would flourish. The
will of God was rain so his prayer wasn’t for personal reward. Israel needed water not wealth.
Knowing what God wants and His will is
provides the intent to get into the circle to stay. To just draw a circle and assume God will
honor your faith is really foolish.
Here’s a statement that sums it all up; “Until God’s sovereign will
becomes our sanctified wish, our prayer life will be unplugged from its power
supply. Getting what you want isn’t the
goal; the goal is glorifying God by drawing circles around the promises,
miracles, and dreams He wants for you.”
We’re now closer to Easter than when we
started our journey. Keep your focus and
keep praying.
I’ll meet you at the throne,
Pastor George
