DAY 1 Join Judah's Choir

When Israel's courageous leader Joshua died, there were still battles to be fought and territory to be conquered.  In the first chapter of Judges, the nation of Israel were preparing for battle and asked the Lord, "Which tribe should go first?"

And God said, "Send Judah first."

For the casual reader, that may not seem significant, but there is so much packed into those three words, "Send Judah first."  We know Judah was the tribe Jesus would eventually descend from, but there was something very special about this tribe that some may not realize.

The Tribe of Judah were the praisers, the band, the dancers, the musicians, the leaders of praise and worship for all of Israel.

As we begin our first day of sacrificial service to our God through fasting and personal intercession, let's NOT begin on a somber note. Let's NOT feel as though the next 21 days will seem like punishment. Let's NOT think of fasting as some outdated spiritual discipline.  NO!  Lets start with strong praise and worship to our God for the privilege he has offered us to draw close to his heart and listen to his voice.

If fasting is challenging to you and you are struggling to find personal delight in it, then join Judah's Choir!
Lift your voice and sing praises to the Lord your God for all He is and has done to reward you with his lovingkindness and tenderest of mercies.  Shout to the Lord with the voice of triumph as the Palmist instructed, remembering the Lord is good, and His faithfulness to generation after generation.

On this first day of our fast, make a joyful noise and celebrate!  That's how Judah won their battles, and it's the same way you'll win your battles during this fast.

I'll meet you at the Throne (I'll be one that's praising!),
Pastor George
